Synagogue Funds

As a means of honoring or memorializing the life-cycle events of friends and loved ones, Gesher L'Torah provides various funds to which contributions may be made. Some funds have a suggested minimum donation amount, but even the smallest contributions are useful and appreciated.

Building Fund - used to preserve or add to Synagogue structure and grounds and to repair or replace interior or exterior fixtures.

General Fund - used to support a variety of synagogue programs and helps pay for basic operational costs.

Torah & Prayerbook Fund - used to repair or purchase new Siddurim, Chumashim, Mahzorim, and books used during services. A minimum contribution of double-Chai ($36) is suggested.

Rabbi's Discretionary Fund - used at the discretion of the Rabbi for scholarships and a variety of charitable and educational purposes, as well as projects within the synagogue and community. Often, although not exclusively, gifts made to this fund are in honor or in appreciation of the Rabbi's work on behalf of a member of our congregation.

Religious School Fund - used to help to acquire religious articles and books appropriate for the religious school program and to assist in promoting and achieving Synagogue-sponsored youth education programs. It also provides assistance to spiritually committed, NFJC youths for Camp Ramah programs.

High Holiday Fund This includes our “Book of Remembrance” - available only at Yom Kippur to memorialize loved ones at Yizkor services. A contribution in a multiple of Chai ($18, $36, $54,...) is suggested for each name listed. Other gifts help defray the high costs of putting on our High Holiday services.

Other Funds- Military Packages, Library, Sisterhood, Special Events, Youth Group.

Other Donations - Contributions can be in other forms than checks. Property accepted by the Synagogue, and securities (like appreciated stocks) are also encouraged, as all donations are tax deductible. In addition, time is the most valuable donation a member can give.
