Religious School MIssion

The mission of our educational program at Gesher L’Torah’s Religious School is to join together our members’ homes with our synagogue by providing students with values, experiences and skills necessary to live a full Conservative Jewish life.

Our school’s curriculum aims to promote an appreciation and understanding of our Jewish cultural and religious heritage through instruction in Jewish liturgy and prayer, Hebrew reading and writing, Torah studies, the Jewish life cycle, the geography of Israel and Jewish history and traditions. Our program supports students’ needs to take part in synagogue services, rituals, and celebration of the Jewish holidays throughout the year. We strongly encourage regular family attendance at Shabbat services and welcome our students’ active participation in all aspects of davening and Torah reading.

Infusing numerous interactive learning experiences throughout the year enriches our students’ understanding and appreciation of Judaism. Exciting activities such as our Model Sedar, Lag B’Omer field day, Matzah Factory, and the personalized Sidur Dedication Celebration make learning memorable and fun.

The Religious School strives to create students who are life-long Jewish learners. Our goals are:

  1. to instill in our students an understanding of what it means to be a member of the Jewish community, and to promote a sense of pride in their Jewish heritage
  2. to enable each student to participate in services, text study and rituals at home and in the synagogue, and to feel welcome as a participant in the synagogue
  3. to graduate students who possess the knowledge, skills, and a desire to be responsible, active members of the Conservative Jewish tradition in the synagogue and at home
  4. to integrate Jewish values and traditions into the student’s way of life
  5. to stimulate the desire for life-long Jewish learning
